Student demographics in our district have shifted in recent years.
Fostering meaningful relationships is essential to connect with students from different backgrounds. Researchers define culturally responsive teaching as “an approach that empowers students intellectually, socially, emotionally and politically by using cultural referents to impart knowledge, skills, and attitudes” (Ladson-Billings). Participants will walk away with several approaches to set the conditions for culturally responsive teaching in their classrooms for the upcoming school year.
